Exciting Preparations and Activities for the 2024 Trials
Leading up to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming, Indiana Sports Corp hosted a series of festivities to celebrate the one-year mark. Highlighting the importance of swimming, the quarterly Locker Room Lunch Series and a panel discussion organized by Women in Sports & Events (WISE) Indianapolis put the spotlight on female Olympians and the women working behind the scenes to produce the 2024 Trials.
Moreover, a press conference at Lucas Oil Stadium brought together the mayor of Indianapolis, CEOs of USA Swimming, OneAmerica, Indiana Sports Corp, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis. This event was followed by a youth swimming clinic and a community gathering at Broad Ripple Park, creating an engaging and inclusive atmosphere for everyone.
Apart from the exhilarating competition, the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming is expected to bring significant economic impact to Indianapolis, exceeding $100 million. Additionally, the unique configuration inside Lucas Oil Stadium will allow the thrilling action to reach an estimated 25 million viewers through NBC’s broadcast.
In preparation for the event, three temporary pools, including two 50-meter pools and one 25-meter pool, will be installed over the field in Lucas Oil Stadium. This configuration will provide a seating capacity of up to 30,000 fans for each session, ensuring an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.
Furthermore, fans and attendees can look forward to captivating additional experiences alongside the competition. The Toyota Aqua Zone, an interactive fan experience, will take place at the Indiana Convention Center. Additionally, USA Swimming Live on Georgia Street and USA Swimming House presented by OneAmerica will provide further opportunities for hospitality and entertainment during the Trials.
Notably, USA Swimming and the Local Organizing Committee have launched Swim IN Safety, a legacy initiative related to the Trials. Collaborating with the Indy Aquatic Alliance longitudinal program, Swim IN Safety aims to teach 25,000 people over the age of five to be water-safe in 2023, with an additional 25,000 in 2024. Organizations throughout Indiana are encouraged to participate and contribute to this essential safety initiative.
