FLASH United States Sets World Junior Record in Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay at World Junior Championships

The USA made an impressive showing in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay at the World Junior Championships in Netanya, Israel. Led by Maximus Williamson’s exceptional second leg performance, the team set a new World Junior Record with a time of 3:15.49. Not only did Williamson’s time of 47.78 seconds prove to be the fastest in the entire field, but it was also the only one to hit the 47-second mark. This outstanding performance helped the quartet slice 0.30 seconds off the previous World Junior Record of 3:15.79 set by a USA team in Honolulu in 2022.

This achievement was not only a World Junior Record, but also a Championship Record. The USA team’s time of 3:15.49 surpassed the previous record of 3:15.80 set at the World Junior Championships in Budapest 2019, also by the US team. The team’s remarkable splits were as follows: Daniel Diehl swam a time of 49.93 seconds; Maximus Williamson’s outstanding performance brought in a time of 47.78 seconds; Hudson Williams contributed a time of 49.14 seconds; and Jason Zhao wrapped it up with a time of 48.64 seconds. This stellar performance secured the USA’s victory, with Australia finishing second in 3:16.69 and Canada finishing third in 3:17.34.
